This notice covers the Solfena app for iPhone and iPad and the website at solfena.com, including its blog. It distinguishes information processed locally by the app from information processed when you visit the website or contact the operator.

The person operating Solfena is responsible for deciding how personal information is used for Solfena’s services. The operator is not a registered company. The following controller details are awaiting confirmation:

This draft does not ask you to agree to data collection. Your rights apply regardless of whether you read or accept a privacy notice. Apple, Google, and other providers also have responsibilities for their own processing.

When you import a compatible MusicXML file, the app saves its own local copy. A score can include personal information in its title, composer details, credits, or other text. The app reads score information to display notation, prepare playback, and explain the selected passage.

The app also saves library names and identifiers, your last practice position and playback settings, language and voice choices, appearance preferences, and selected MIDI output and mappings. This allows you to return to your library and settings.

These files and preferences are stored on your device. The current app has no Solfena account, cloud library sync, advertising SDK, or Google Analytics integration. It does not send your score library to a Solfena server. Device backups and importing from a cloud file provider are separate services governed by your settings and that provider’s practices.

You can type a question or choose to record a short spoken question. Recording requires microphone and speech-recognition permissions. Audio is passed to Apple’s on-device speech recognizer; the app requires on-device recognition and does not substitute a cloud transcription service when it is unavailable. The microphone is not used to assess your instrumental playing.

You can review and edit the transcript before submitting a question. Live coaching processes the question and selected score context using Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework. Built-in explanations are available when live coaching is unavailable. Spoken answers are generated with locally bundled voice models.

The current app keeps questions, transcripts, and answers in session memory rather than saving a persistent conversation history. Its spoken-question feature does not save microphone recordings as audio files. The app does not upload these questions or recordings to Solfena for model training. Apple’s system services, diagnostic settings, and model management are covered by Apple’s own privacy information.

Do not include sensitive personal information or information about someone else unless it is necessary and you have a suitable reason to use it. You can deny or revoke recording permissions in device settings and use typed questions instead.

If you select an external MIDI destination, the app sends musical playback events to that destination and saves the output selection and mappings locally. A connected instrument, MIDI application, or network destination has its own behavior and privacy arrangements. Choose only destinations you intend to use.

Apple handles App Store transactions and account information under its own terms and privacy policy. Solfena does not collect payment-card details through this website or the current app. Files, backups, Bluetooth connections, and operating-system diagnostics may involve providers you choose independently.

Opening an external link contacts the destination website. This website bundles its fonts and images locally rather than loading them from remote font or image services.

The website includes Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people visit and how the site is used. It is configured for solfena.com and www.solfena.com; local development and other preview hostnames do not load the Analytics tag.

Analytics can process page URLs and titles, referring sites, visit times, interactions, browser and device information, approximate location, and cookie-based identifiers. A request to Google also exposes connection information. Google states that GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. This is not a promise that visits are anonymous.

The current website does not supply app scores or coaching questions to Analytics. Avoid placing personal information in a URL, since page addresses can be included in measurement. Event collection and Google account integrations can also depend on the Analytics property settings; those settings have not yet been verified for this notice.

Google Analytics ordinarily uses first-party cookies such as _ga to distinguish browsers and _ga_<container-id> to maintain session state. Google documents a default lifetime of two years for these cookies; expiry can be renewed or shortened by configuration and browser settings. Cookie lifetime is different from how long Analytics keeps event data.

Current implementation: the Google tag loads automatically on the production domains. This website does not yet provide an accept/reject banner or a cookie-settings control. Reading this notice or continuing to browse is not consent to optional tracking.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser, although deleting them alone does not prevent them from being set again on a later visit. Google also offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers. These options do not replace a site’s obligations to provide required choices.

The operator still needs to confirm the applicable analytics basis and implement the required controls before finalizing this notice. No consent-based operation or exemption from consent is claimed for the present setup.

Local score processing, playback, preferences, and coaching provide the functions you request. To the extent this involves personal data for which the operator is responsible, the intended basis is providing the agreed app service, or taking requested steps before an agreement. Optional device permissions let you control a feature; a permission dialog is not a blanket legal basis for unrelated processing.

If you contact the operator, your contact details, message, and any information you choose to provide would be used to answer you, provide support, or handle a rights request. The appropriate basis depends on the request: performing a contract, complying with a legal obligation, or legitimate interests in responding to inquiries and resolving problems, subject to your rights.

Website measurement is intended to help improve the site. Its lawful basis and cookie arrangements remain to be confirmed against the actual Google configuration and applicable rules. Hosting and security processing, if introduced, must also be documented. This draft does not authorize advertising, selling personal information, or unrelated reuse.

The current app does not provide the operator with routine remote access to your local library or questions. Information you voluntarily send in a support request is different and may need to be handled by the operator and the chosen communications provider.

Google receives website measurement information when the Analytics tag runs. Google services can involve processing outside the UK. The contracting Google entity, property settings, relevant processing terms, and applicable international-transfer safeguards still need to be confirmed. This draft does not assert that any particular adequacy arrangement or contractual safeguard is already in place for Solfena.

A production hosting provider has not been confirmed. Any hosting logs, service providers, processing locations, and retention rules must be recorded before this notice is finalized. A notice on this page does not itself appoint a processor or put a transfer agreement in place.

Personal information may also need to be disclosed where the law requires it, or where necessary and lawful to address a legal claim. Any such disclosure must be limited to what is appropriate.

Local scores and settings: retained until you delete the relevant data or remove the app, subject to device backups and restoration. Removing an imported score deletes the app’s copy, not an original held elsewhere. There is no Solfena account recovery service.

Questions and recordings: the current app does not persist a chat history or spoken-question audio files. Session data is temporary and may remain in memory while the app is running; this does not promise immediate secure erasure from memory or from operating-system-managed resources.

Website analytics: the Analytics property’s event/user-data retention, reset-on-activity option, and aggregate-report handling are not yet confirmed. No fixed Solfena retention period is claimed. See Google’s retention documentation.

Support and hosting: no support provider or hosting retention schedule has been finalized. These schedules must be set to reflect the purpose, operational need, and applicable legal obligations before the notice is made final.

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law gives you rights to access personal information, correct it, request deletion, restrict processing, object to certain uses, and receive or transfer certain data. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. These rights have conditions and exceptions.

For local app information, you can manage imported scores and device permissions yourself. The operator cannot retrieve or erase files held only on your device remotely. This does not remove rights relating to information the operator actually holds. Requests should use the privacy contact once the pending contact details above have been completed.

Requests should normally receive a response within one month, subject to lawful extensions or other applicable timing rules. A proportionate identity check may be needed. You do not need to pay a fee in ordinary circumstances.

You can complain directly to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office; you do not have to wait for Solfena’s permission. Your local regulator may also be available if you live elsewhere. Choosing England and Wales law in the terms does not remove applicable privacy rights.

Young musicians should have help from a responsible adult with permissions, suitable scores, and questions. The current app does not ask for a date of birth or create a child account. That does not establish an age-assurance system or demonstrate compliance with every requirement for services used by children; the operator must assess those arrangements for the intended audience.

Local storage and processing reduce routine transmission, but do not guarantee complete security. Protect your device, keep its software up to date, and choose backups and connected services carefully. Do not send sensitive files for support unless necessary.

The app generates optional educational explanations. It does not use them to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you, grade your playing, or determine access to education, employment, or credit.

This notice must be updated if the app’s processing, website services, contact details, or purposes change. Material changes should be brought to your attention before the changed processing begins, with consent obtained where required. A new notice alone does not authorize a new use of personal information.
